Austral Masonry was chosen as the preferred supplier for site works at a prestigious NSW retirement village, thanks to its versatile and reliable product range.
Glengara Retirement Village is an award-winning resort style village located in the beautiful Glenning Valley at Tumbi Umbi, just an hour's drive north of Sydney.
The Village is recognised for its luxurious design and high quality finishes, and offers residents a fabulous range of community facilities including a swimming pool, bowling green, computer club and workshop.
Due to increasing demand, the Village is about to undergo an expansion phase. However, some parts of the proposed site were not level, and so required the construction of retaining walls to make the site usable.
According to David Nugent, NSW State Manager - Austral Masonry, an excellent product range and some good teamwork ensured that Austral Masonry was able to deliver a practical and timely solution for the project.
As David explains, due to the required height of the retaining walls, the block walls needed to be 300mm at the base in order to meet structural needs.
"While this isn't a problem when dealing with common grey blockwork, coloured blocks are not commonly available in sizes greater than 200mm. In fact, Austral Masonry is currently the only supplier in the market," he said.
"That meant that we could provide a solution for the client that was less costly and less time consuming than other options available."
Another factor that led to builder Bolte Civil choosing Austral Masonry to supply the blocks was the extensive range of blocks and accessories available, ensuring the detailing in the finished product would be of a high standard.
"Bolte Civil was also very confident in our ability to meet the tight production schedule, which required the product to be supplied within four weeks.
"While the blocks needed to be produced for this project, our operations and sales teams worked closely with the builder to ensure the deadline was met. The product was delivered on time and in full, ensuring no delays were experienced on site," David added.
Keith Smith, Project Manager, Bolte Civil, agrees that Austral Masonry was very efficient.
"The best part was they met all our requirements for product and delivery times but we were also impressed with their after sales service. On completion of the main stage of the project we required some follow up product and assistance to tidy some parts of the wall and the company was able come up with everything we needed," said Keith.
